About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior PMO Analyst – IT Project Commercials to provide subject matter expertise and advice in the delivery of project financial management and support services to IT projects. Reporting to the Commercial Manager – IT Projects within IT PMO, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure success.

This is a newly created role and provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University’s strategic priorities by supporting the enhancement of operational efficiency, improved stakeholder experience, and delivery of measurable outcomes.

You will become part of a high performing team to successfully deliver the necessary commercial support to various IT projects, helping to solve complex situations in collaboration with IT PMO and IT Delivery colleagues, as well as external suppliers and internal partners, championing a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and support in financial planning, management, and reporting, ensuring that projects are delivered successfully in alignment with agreed benefits, budgets, and financial/commercial standards and practices.
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the financial lifecycle of projects, from planning through execution, utilising expert knowledge and a risk-based approach to evaluate and manage financial performance throughout each phase.
  • Facilitate and lead discussions related to project finance and commercial engagement, offering guidance and recommending actions that ensure project delivery remains within established frameworks and aligns with industry best practices.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager – IT Projects to identify and implement continuous improvements to financial processes, reporting mechanisms, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring all partners are involved and informed.
  • Take the lead in preparing and reviewing project financial reports, including discussions with stakeholders, ensuring that all relevant financial information is accurately conveyed and supports informed decision-making.
  • Drive the development and enhancement of financial capabilities within the IT PMO and project teams, promoting knowledge sharing, coaching, and the ongoing improvement of financial standards, processes, and documentation.

About You

You are an experienced Senior PMO Analyst – IT Project Commercials or equivalent, with excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration. You have a proven ability in contributing within a diverse team, can effectively achieve desired outcomes and adapt to changing circumstances.

Selection criteria

  • Relevant degree in a related discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Information Technology) and/or equivalent experience in commercial management.
  • Understanding of project and risk management fundamentals.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities to deliver to deadlines.
  • Proven ability to effectively influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing, improving and optimising processes to streamline and achieve efficiency.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience successfully preparing project finances and financial reporting for complex projects and programs, engaging multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Previous experience working with procurement and vendor management.
  • Previous experience working in the higher education, research, or similar sectors.
